Default tax being added
Sometimes, the merchants reach out stating that Loop is adding default tax onto the product price which conflicts with the app that they have on the site to manage EU tax rates.
This article is to clarify the issue once and for all.
Loop never interferes with Taxes at any point during the order. This has been proved with a proof in this article.
We'll proceed further by taking a real-life example of a merchant where a default tax was being added to their product prices and they thought that its loop interfering with the prices.
Although loop never interferes in the matter of taxes and it is all handled by Shopify, you can still make a few checks on your end.
Step 1: Check into the “Taxes and Duties” tab in Shopify’s settings to see if any tax is applied by the merchant.
Step 2: Go to the markets tab to see if there is a difference in the markets and currency conversion takes place due to which the difference in price is occurring.
If still nothing is deduced, refer to the resolutions below-
Step 1: As per the market preferences, the Tax(VAT) is added based on the customer's country. And here what happened was that the VAT rate in the EU countries (the customer was from Germany) is 19% for the products manufactured in the UK.

Step 2: Reach out to Shopify Support once because Taxes and duties are handled by Shopify and not Loop.
We from Loop reached out to them in the past and their Merchant Tax Expert confirmed that this is something Loop cannot alter at any end. The prices and Taxes will be completely controlled by the Shopify Settings. Refer to the screenshot for the proof.
