Gift subscription setup guide
With Loop, merchants can easily configure gift subscriptions from the admin portal, customize the storefront experience using the gift widget, and manage gifting preferences to ensure a seamless experience for both gifters and recipients. This guide walks you through the steps required to set up gift subscriptions and deliver a delightful, branded gifting experience.

Configuring gift programs
Creating a gift program is a standalone process that can be configured directly from the dedicated gift programs screen in the Loop admin.
- Navigate to Loop admin > Gifts > Programs and click on "Create a gift program"
- Assign an internal name to your program. Then, configure the required "Purchase options and discounts" per business requirement.
- Configure shipping fee per delivery for recurring orders (post checkout). It will be included in the gift product price on checkout.
- Enable the “Swap product” checkbox if you want to allow the recipient to swap their product with other items mapped within this gift program.
- Define the frequency interval for this program.
- Set the status to "Active" and click on the "Save" button.
- Map the required gift product to your program by navigating to the "Products" tab.
Setting up the gift widget
You can set up a dedicated Loop gift widget, an app block specifically designed to handle all gift acquisition needs.
- Navigate to Loop admin > Gifts > Widget > Click on the "Map the widget" button.
- Ensure that the app-block is added to the required template. To add, you can click "Add app block". It will open Shopify theme editor and automatically add the Loop widget. Place the widget as required and click on Save.
- Switch to Loop admin and click "Refresh status" to fetch the latest app block status for the selected theme templates.
- Select all the product pages on which you want to show the respective widget design and click on Map.
- The newly added widget can be verified on the product page.
This will ensure that your Loop gift widgets continue to function properly across all product pages after the theme update.
Configuring gift widget
Styling the gift widget appearance
You can style the gift widget by navigating to Loop admin > Gifts > Widget > Styles tab. From here, you can customize its appearance, including the widget container, checkbox, input box, input text, radio button group, price label and more, depending on the section you want to edit.
For a custom look widget, a dedicated section to add custom CSS is available under the Styles tab.

Customizing gift widget texts
In the next tab called "Texts", you can customize the default text labels that appear on the widget based on your preference or brand tone.
Gifting experience preferences
Now we'll move to the next section called "Preferences", where you can enable or disable multiple settings related to the gifting experience for the gifter and the recipient.
The table below explains each option to help you set up as needed.
- First order delivery: Configure when the gifter can schedule the first gift order delivery.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
First order delivery | Allow gifters to schedule the first gift delivery at a future date. If disabled, the first order will be created with date of the order as the fulfilment date. |
- Recipient actions: Setup actions which will be available for the recipients to take on their gift subscriptions.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Place order | Allow customers to place the upcoming order immediately. Subsequent orders will be updated as per the billing interval defined. |
Reschedule order | Allow customers to reschedule the upcoming order. Subsequent orders will be updated as per the billing interval defined. |
Order notes | This option allows to add/edit order notes |
- Recipient portal experience: Manage the recipient portal experience by configuring the experience at different touch points.

Recipient landing page | Allow the recipient to thank their gifter. Our system will trigger the Thanks message notification to the gifter. |

Configuring texts (Recipient landing page and gift management page)
To access this setting, navigate to Loop admin > Gifts > Texts
In this screen, you can customize the various default text labels that appear on the "Recipient landing page and gift management page" as per your preference or brand tone.
- Recipient landing page: These texts are displayed on the recipient landing page, which is displayed for the first time a recipient visits the gift management portal.
- Thank gifter message pop-up: These texts are displayed in the send thanks message pop-up when a recipient wants to thank their gifter.
- Message banner on management page: These texts are displayed in the message banner displayed on the recipient gift management page. All other texts will be powered by the texts configured in the customer portal.
- Gift status: These texts represent the status of a gift.
