Update Payment Details

A customer may update their payment method for similar reasons as changing the payment method, such as their credit card expiring, losing access to their original payment method, or simply wanting to use a different form of payment.

Additionally, a customer may update their payment method if they encounter issues with their original method, such as declined transactions or difficulty with the checkout process. Some customer may also update the payment method to take advantage of a promotion or offer that is only available with a specific form of payment.

Update Payment Method from Loop Customer Portal


Customers can get an update payment method link for themselves directly from the Loop customer portal. For a customer to be able to do this, the following prerequisites must be met.

Prerequisites


The customer should have an active subscription on the app.
The option called “**Update Payment Method** ” should be enabled. This option can be found by heading to Customer Portal > Preferences >Payment and Shipping Details.



If all the above prerequisites have been met. Here is a step-by-step illustration of how the option works.











An email will be sent to the customer's email ID from which the customer can directly update their card details on a secure page served by Shopify which looks similar to the checkout page on the store.

Update Payment Method from Loop Admin Portal


There might be a requirement if a customer phones in and asks the merchant to provide update payment mail for their subscription on their behalf. In such cases, the merchant can manually send the update payment method mail on behalf of the customer from the Loop admin portal. To do so, the following requirements will need to be met.

Prerequisites


Customers should have an active subscription on Loop.

If all the prerequisites are satisfied, then update the payment method by following way-

By heading over to loop, you can search for the customer with “Subscription id”, in the “Payment Details,” you have to click on “Update.”





Click on “Send Mail”.


Update Payment Method from Shopify Admin Portal


An alternative method to sending the update payment method email via Loop is to leverage the "Send link to update card" functionality directly from Shopify admin itself. 

Prerequisites


Customers should have an active subscription on Loop.

If all the prerequisites are satisfied, then they can update the payment method in the following way-

Head over to “Shopify > Customers” and look for the customer name. Then, go to the “Payment Method” tab and click on “More Actions” and choose “Send Link to Update Card.”
