Merge subscriptions

Managing multiple subscriptions with different billing cycles, shipping dates, or products can quickly become confusing for customers. It can also lead to increased shipping costs and unnecessary complexity in their subscription experience.

Customers may want to merge subscriptions for various reasons.

Align delivery dates for convenience
Reduce shipping fees by combining deliveries
Manage fewer subscription records
Maintain consistency in billing frequency and address

With Loop, customers can easily merge subscriptions when the necessary criteria are met, thereby improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This article walks you through all the available options to merge subscriptions on Loop, whether initiated by the customer or handled directly through the admin portal.

Enabling the merge subscription option

Prerequisites

Before enabling the setting, we need to make sure these things are in place.

As a customer, you can only merge subscriptions that share the same shipping address and have identical billing and delivery frequencies. Once the order date is selected, all future deliveries will be aligned based on the delivery frequency of the merged subscription.
The customer must have active subscriptions that are eligible to be merged.

Enabling the setting

Follow these steps to complete the process.

Navigate to Customer portal > Preferences > Subscription actions > Enable the merge subscriptions checkbox.

Merge subscription from the customer portal

Follow these steps to complete the process

Navigate to the customer portal using your login credentials and open the screen where all active subscriptions are visible.

We can see two active subscriptions, each with a unique subscription ID, and both having the same delivery frequency set to 1 month.

Click on the Merge subscriptions button.

A dialog box will appear with a message at the top. Select the desired shipping address and click on Next to proceed.

On the next screen, select the subscriptions you want to merge and then click on Choose order date to proceed.

Choose the desired date from the calendar and click the Confirm button.

Two separate subscriptions have been consolidated into a single subscription. Both associated products are now mapped to this unified subscription, with one of the original subscriptions marked as expired.

Note: The shipping rates will be recalculated based on the shipping profile settings and will be applied accordingly to the final subscription.
